Tram route No. 6 extended to Ausekļa Street

On Thursday, May 16, the terminal of tram No. 6 located in Radio Street will be transferred to Ausekļa Street, which means that now the tram will reach passenger terminal in Riga port. "Rīgas satiksme" informs that the traffic intensity on tram route No. 6 will not change, yet the route schedule will change. The new schedule is available at tram stops and at www.rigassatiksme.lv.

From now on tram No. 6 will run from terminal "Secondary school No. 45" in Ropažu Street, Brīvības gatve, K.Barona Street, Aspazijas Boulevard, Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard, Kronvalda Boulevard to terminal "Ausekļa Street".

From terminal "Ausekļa Street" tram No. 6 will run in Kronvalda Boulevard, Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard, Aspazijas Boulevard, K.Barona Street, Brīvības gatve, Ropažu Street to terminal "Secondary school No. 45".

Now low-floor trams will run along the Old city, National Opera, National Theatre, to connect Jugla with the famous Art Nouveau area in the nearest future.

Due to the above changes, from now on tram No. 6 will not stop at tram stop "Railway Terminal Square", the nearest tram stop in direction of terminal "Secondary school No. 45" is "National Opera", but in direction of terminal “Ausekļa Street” it is "Aspazijas Boulevard".

When the reconstruction will be over and the traffic of trams will be restored on the whole route, its length will reach 22.118 km.  Tram route No. 6 is the most loaded one in Riga, with 46 stops and more than 700 thousand passengers carried every month on the average.
